About Racy

Racy grew up in El Paso and all three of her children were born there where they each experienced the Hispanic culture in their in day-to-day-life. These roots brought with them a colorful palette of the Spanish language, the warm rich traditional Mexican cuisine and mariachi music, and especially the love throughout the Mexican community for people and especially for children.

Speaking the language and adopting the culture of the Mexican border region have always been a way of life for Racy’s family. Her works pay tribute to the rich cultural palette of the border community that inspired her to write the book about “Papito” a term of endearment for one’s little child.

Inspiration

Now based in Austin, Texas, Racy lives only a few miles from all three of her children and her grandson who inspired the “Papito” collection. For over 10 years Racy has also raised up her truest life friends---her loyal Golden Retrievers. She spends her time practicing law, walking the trails with her three Goldens named Sam, Maverick, and Luna, laughing sweet laughs with her only grandson, and cheering for her alma mater, the University of Texas at Austin (“Hook ‘Em Horns").

Throughout the Papito series, Racy has included an occasional image that pays homage to the Longhorns, of which she considers herself a lifelong devotee. She hopes to continue her “Papito” series that will illuminate the richness and love that exists in her beloved El Paso and among her dearest Golden friends. She hopes you enjoy her work!
